Associated Students of the University of Washington Tacoma (ASUWT) is committed to ensuring the safety and the well-being of our undocumented Students. We believe all of our students have the right to achieve and aspire to their academic goals in a safe and inclusive environment.
As President Ana Mari Cauce said in her email last month, “the UW strives to provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment that protects the privacy and human rights of everyone in our community. Our long-standing policies do not permit us to provide immigration officials with information about our students or allow immigration officials to enter UW classrooms or residence halls without a court order.”
Chancellor Mark Pagano said, “we at UW Tacoma are a diverse and tight-knit community. This is a source of pride for us, and it is something that strengthens us to face these recent developments. On our campus and across our university, we have deeply held convictions about equity and inclusion as well as the social justice. The revocation of DACA has a major impact. We remain committed to being a welcoming campus and will continue to work together to honor these values.”
UW Tacoma students, can find a list of campus resources at our Center for Equity & Inclusion. Community resources that may be of help to students enrolled in DACA, should they be needed, are also at the Center for Equity & Inclusion.
ASUWT stands tall and strong with our fellow DACA students.
